Fall of the Republic
Reading recent headlines it occurs to me that when true tyranny does arise in these United States, it will not occur through the executive branch accruing new powers during a time of war...it will be through legislatures outlawing cigarettes and donuts.

We, the general public, need people who represent us to keep an eye on these legislators, don't we? Maybe we could elect watchful folk based on how fit they are at both understanding legislation and alerting the public to possible abuses. Something that having separation of powers, multiple political parties, and a free press hasn't managed to accomplish. Perhaps we could enlist the aid of powerful lobbyists/corporate interests? How about robots? Ninja maybe?
